1999

The beginning as a straw bale architect: Inspired by a lecture by Harald Wedig and David Eisenberg as well as the indefatigable in the ecovillage Sieben Linden – thanks to Silke and Martin for inviting me!

2000

My first own little house made from straw bales (see detailed description)

2002

First German straw bale construction meeting held in the ecovillage Sieben Linden: formation of the association "Fachverband Strohballenbau Deutschland e.V." (
www.fasba.de) with Axel Linde, Steffen Moritz and Dirk Scharmer as board of directors

Unrealized one-family house in Bruchhagen

2003

First research and development project (applicant: Freundeskreis Ökodorf Sieben Linden e.V.,
www.siebenlinden.de) cooperating with the FASBA, the Wohnungsgenossenschaft Sieben Linden eG and the Landwirtschaftsproduktegenossenschaft Bandau eG: "Technique of straw bale construction and manufacturing in the Altmark"

Second German straw bale construction meeting held in the ecovillage Sieben Linden (download PDF 393kB)

First fire resistance testing of a straw bale wall with a plastering of clay: the test that took 90 minutes was passed. A general certification report by the building supervision for a load-bearing, fire-retardant outside wall made of straw, wood and clay (valid to June 8, 2009)
